My name is Debbie Woofter and I have been the Preschool and Prekindergarten teacher at SJS for the past 6 years.  I attended St. Joseph Grade School in Massillon and graduated from Central Catholic High School.   My husband Jim and I are members of St. Peter’s Church where we have spent many years of volunteering in the school and church.  I feel like I have come full circle with my catholic beliefs by teaching here at St. Joseph School.  Jim and I raised 3 children, Jonathon who is 28 and living in Buffalo, NY. Stephen is 24, engaged to be married in 2008 to Desirae and will be moving to Boca Raton, Fl. by the end of this year, and Tara is 22 who is following in her mother’s footsteps by working with young children.

I have always enjoyed being with young children and have volunteered or worked in the field of Early Childhood for the past 22 years in some capacity.  I was a stay at home mom for several years volunteering at my children’s preschool and then worked as a teacher’s aide at St. Peter’s Preschool. As a result of having so much fun working with children and wanting a child to enjoy learning, I decided after my 3 children were older to pursue a college education and received an associate’s degree from Stark State College in 2000.  Now that my children are in their twenties and on their own, teaching at St. Joseph School has been very rewarding for me.

In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to see this beautiful country now that my husband Jim is retired.
